What a better way to kick off summer (16 days early) than with a margarita? And here's my delicious margarita cheat - agave wine margaritas! Agave wine margaritas are a lower alcohol tequila alternative. I enjoy good tequila, which will be another post, but not everyone does. These agave wine margaritas are also a tasty time saver. Not all are equal, so here are a couple of my favorite treats.
Let's start with a traditional margarita with Kirkland's Golden Agave Wine Margarita. It's not too sweet. I like to add a squeeze from a quarter of a lime over ice and pour. For a frozen treat, pour about a cup of Golden Margarita cocktail in a blender, add frozen strawberries, and blend. Add as many as you like for your chosen frozen consistency. Follow @bartlosbkyard on Instagram to see this in action this summer! Kirkland makes a Strawberry Margarita but I fond the pre-mixed strawberry too sweet.
Kirkland is a Costco brand, but there are others available at your local grocery store. Every once in a while, I grab one to taste. Passing through my local Safeway, Luna de Oro's Peach Margarita caught my eye. I was pleasantly surprised because many of the pre-mix fruit flavors can be very sweet. This was fantastic on its own, but I wanted a little more punch so I added Repasado Teremana Tequila. Wow!! This Fur Mama will be indulging in this again, but next time maybe I blend with frozen peaches for a frozen treat.
